0:12: Student diversity and inclusion hosted a women’s history game night on Tuesday, March 11.
0:17: The event aimed to entertain and educate students about important women throughout history.
0:21: What led to organizing this event was I know my supervisor reached out to me and she was like, “Hey, I want to do something that highlights the 135 year anniversary and also just the founders of Columbia College Chicago, but also highlight more other women.”
0:40: So, I took into the consideration that the luncheon from yesterday, which was “Uplift” and I was like OK I wanna do something more educational but make it fun so the idea was to create a game night where we play bingo and trivia to kinda help people like learn more about Women History Month so bingo was kind of like the introductory of it.
1:07: The goal of the event is to educate people more about Women History Month and just celebrate women.
1:14: in general. My hopes coming into the event, well I mean it was made by my co-worker Ash I was just like “wow this is gonna be such a dope event like she has such a bright mind” and kind of watching her at work go through like the motions of like making the event trials and errors like coming up with different games and things like that.
1:32: I just wanted to see the final product and it came out so cute.
1:35: I won bingo, so I mean like it was just so nice and it’s her first year so just seeing
1:42: her like come up with an event that she likes and everything like it’s just like a really proud moment to see.
1:47: I can see most conversations going on and it’s nice to look at.
1:51: I wanted to go for a vibe that’s just calming and comfortable and personally from my experience I feel like that’s what I’m getting so I’m pretty happy with how the event is turning out.
2:00: It’s just really nice to kinda have a space where we can just kind of sit and decompress from the outside world and just kinda be with each other, be kind of silly,
2:10: things like that, so it’s been fun.
2:12: I mean like SDI is just so sweet, so nice.
2:14: I love my time working here.
2:16: I love my time not working here and just being here in general, so I can’t wait to see how it just continues on how the legacy upholds with everything going on in the world.
2:27: I just hope that Columbia can stay true to its image of DEI.
2:31: The SDI office will continue to celebrate Women’s History Month with events throughout the week.
2:36: This is Ali Brenneman for Chronicle TV.
