Bucket hats, beanies and a colorful performance by Chaz Bear, otherwise known professionally as Toro y Moi, came to Chicago Friday. The successful, sold-out show was held at the Riviera Theatre, 4746 N. Racine Ave., following the recent release of his alternative album “Outer Peace,” released by Carpark Records in January.

The show opened with a set from Channel Tres, a California-born artist with a house music-inspired sound. He performed songs from his recent EP “Black Moses” with the help of two dancers by his side.

Toro y Moi brought a colorful performance to the stage with his band. The crowd got groovy as he performed funky songs such as “Laws of the Universe,” “Freelance” and “Ordinary Pleasure.” The South Carolina-born artist alternated between playing the guitar and singing during his performance.

Toro y Moi will continue his U.S. tour until Saturday, Nov. 9.
