A statue of A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, a spiritual teacher and founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, sits in the sacred space of the ISKCON center in the Rogers Park neighborhood on Tuesday, July 21, 2026. Formerly a Masonic lodge built in 1910, the building was purchased by the Hare Krishna congregation in 1973 and converted into a temple. This photo is part of the Columbia Chronicle’s “77 Community Areas” project, documenting Chicago in celebration of America’s 250th birthday.
