The market showcases student work with a spooky theme, including a featured piece by recent Columbia graduate, Ziccy Delamarter. The market hosts many mediums of art, including zines, prints, books, stickers, jewelry, sculpture and more.

Ali Brenneman: Shop Columbia, and by extension, the Dark Market, gives students the unique opportunity to get practice selling and pricing their artwork in a less high-stakes setting.

Everyone, including student workers at Shop Columbia, is encouraged to submit work.

It’s really fun to just be casually involved with my work, as well as being able to dictate and help highlight everybody else’s work.

I really focus on putting my friend’s work and putting everybody’s work in places where, you know, I think it looks good and it highlights everything.

Ali Brenneman: The shop is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Students can stop by any time during operating hours to check out the work featured in the Dark Market, which typically draws in more customers than their year round displays.

So it does bring a lot of traffic and that we’re having a neon theme when the neon things for the Halloween season, it brings in a lot of people, a lot of people like the skeletons.

This year, the market goes on until October 31st with a reception for the artists happening October 24th, a week prior.
