Election night party at Conaway Center

The music began blasting through the Conaway Center’s doors the minute they opened. Students were treated to a pizza dinner prior to a performance of “The Star-spangled Banner,” and SGA President Cassandra Norris announced hourly updates on the status of the presidential race.

Actors impersonating Mitt Romney, Barack Obama and their wives jibed one another and hammed it up with attendees through a mock debate and an impromptu dance battle. Each update was followed with a mock bout in the red, white and blue boxing ring. Meanwhile, One Tribe held activities like the political puzzle and an open commentary photobooth.

SGA collected signatures in an effort to curb textbook fees and invited students to make campaign buttons.

In her last update, Norris announced that Obama had taken the lead, evoking cheers and prompting a chant of “Obama.”
