Stand Off in Uptown

By Brent Lewis

Four people were arrested after a six-hour standoff on Dec. 5 on the 4600 block of North Broadway. Three individuals barricaded themselves in a building around 4:15 after another individual involved in a firearms investigation, was arrested six hours earlier. The individuals involved were “wanted” and Town Hall District officers and ATF agents were notified that they were in the Chicago area. The incident caused the CTA Red Line to shutdown between Belmont on Berwyn, and the Purple Line Express was shut down as well. Police recovered a .40-caliber handgun, a .450caliber handgun and a 223 rifle with a scope, along with a bullet proof vest at the scene.
