Photos: Chicago’s first NASCAR weekend comes to a close

The highly anticipated NASCAR Chicago street circuit race weekend concluded Sunday evening with animated crowds and thrilled race drivers. The weekend faced multiple delays as rain and lightning passed over the festival grounds, but people kept their head up and waited it out until the excitement could resume.

The Chronicle’s Director of Video, Andres Guerra, was inside the NASCAR event to capture the weekend, and Staff Photojournalist Addison Annis shot the races from above. Take a look at the inaugural Chicago NASCAR event — set to happen again next year and again in 2025 — down below.
