Across east-west streets in the Chicago Loop, the rising and setting sun can appear between the skyscrapers, creating what is known as Chicagohenge.
Around the spring and autumn equinoxes, when the sun rises and sets near due east or west, commuters and photographers gather to watch the sunlight align with the city’s street grid.
As Chicagoans walked through the city on Tuesday, Sept. 22, they stopped for a glimpse or to take a photo of the bright orange sunset framed by the skyline, this fall’s Chicagohenge.
