Urban Assault Ride brings pedal to the medal

By Cristina Aguirre

The Urban Assault Bike Ride is a national event that combines a bike race, a scavenger hunt course and festival into one. Beginning in Austin, Texas, in 2003, the Urban Assault Bike Ride is now in 13 U.S. cities with 7,000 riders from across the country participating in the event this year. The race includes different checkpoints throughout the city with different obstacles participants must past before finishing the race. Some of the obstacles include human bowling, wheelbarrow racing and bike jousting. At the end, a celebration of bikes and beer awaits. The Chronicle goes on a ride to take you there.
