Metro Desk

The Metro Desk covers stories that are about or affect Columbia’s surrounding neighborhood and the greater Chicago area. This includes city hall, politics, business and real estate news, as well as events in the area, community coalitions and overall neighborhood trends. Event coverage, profiles and basic news stories should also be considered for stories. Section features include a weekly police blotter and news briefs. There will also be a rotating feature schedule, which would include either a neighborhood spotlight or an investigative piece.

Asst. Metro Editor

A Metro Editor is responsible for writing at least two stories each week

Recognize trends throughout all facets of the city and the South Loop community

Find stories that deal with and are appealing to students, teachers and administrators
