Colleges names new vice president of Enrollment Management

Michael A. Joseph has been appointed vice president of Enrollment Management, according to a July 31 email announcement from President and CEO Kwang-Wu Kim.

According to the email announcement, Joseph will manage several areas of the college, including freshman and transfer student recruitment, enrollment-related marketing and the Student Financial Services Office. He will also report to Kim as a member of the President’s Cabinet.

Joseph will begin his new position August 13.

Previously, Joseph oversaw enrollment as Valparaiso University’s vice president of Enrollment Management. He has also held several enrollment management positions at the University of Detroit Mercy, North Central College and Dominican University, in addition to beginning his career in 1981 as an admissions counselor for Wheeling Jesuit University.

Joseph’s appointment comes amid continuous enrollment declines at Columbia, most recently a 10 percent drop from fall 2016 to fall 2017, as reported Oct. 6, 2017, by The Chronicle.

Story developments to come.
