Chicago Teachers Union Protests in Loop amid budget cuts | The Columbia Chronicle

With the Feb. 2 announcement by Gov. Bruce Rauner of a possible state takeover of Chicago Public Schools and the Chicago Teachers Union’s ongoing feud with Mayor Rahm Emanuel, CTU and CPS students rallied together Feb. 4 in the Loop.

Protesters marched in unison from 135 S. LaSalle St. to City Hall to protest CPS’ proposed $100 million budget cuts, which would directly affect Chicago schools, teachers and students.

CPS and CTU met Feb. 5 to negotiate an offer.  CTU rejected CPS’ last offer.
