Center backs out of moving offenders to rehab facility | The Columbia Chronicle
October 27, 2014
Plans for Southwood Cornell Interventions, 5701 S. Wood St., to move 72 offenders to its drug rehab center in Englewood have been scrapped after residents complained. At a community meeting held at Henderson Elementary School, 5650 S. Wolcott Ave., on Oct. 18, residents voiced concerns regarding their children’s safety, who would have to pass the center to get to school, and the lack of communication. The drug rehab facility is working with the Cook County Sheriff’s Department to fin an appropriate location to house the offenders.
