VIDEO: Hector Duarte paints as you watch

By Cristina Aguirre

His murals are displayed through out Pilsen and Chicago on buildings, stores, and homes. Now through May 9th, you can witness local artist Hector Duarte’s latest work as he paints a 200-foot mural symbolizing immigration and hope. Each wall embraces it’s own unique message addressing the issues of borders, identity, immigration, and the future. “Every time I paint, I intend to put a message on my work,” Duarte said. “The mural is about people who cross the border.” Duarte talks to the Chronicle about his first solo exhibition featured in the National Museum of Mexican Art.
