Lady Antebellum owns the night

Charles Kelley, lead singer of Lady Antebellum, prepares the crowd for the start of “Compass.”

Plaid shirts and cowboy boots were required when the Allstate Arena, 6290 N. Mannheim Road, went country Feb. 26 for the Take Me Downtown Tour featuring, supporting artist Kip Moore and headliner Lady Antebellum. This is Antebellum’s third time headlining a national tour, this time in support of their fifth album, “Golden,” released last May. Kip Moore opened the night with his hit, “Crazy One More Time,” and ended with “Somethin’ Bout a Truck” from his album “Up All Night.” Lady Antebellum got the crowd rocking when they began the show with “Compass,” strutting from the back of the arena, down the aisle to the main stage with fans flocking to their sides. The band’s set included hits off “Golden” and ended with covers of Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” and Anna Kendrick’s “When I’m Gone” during their three-song encore.
