Unable to secure the 50 percent plus 1 to avoid a runoff, incumbent Mayor Rahm Emanuel will face 2nd runner up, Cook County Commissioner Jesus “Chuy” Garcia in an April 7 special election. One big issue of this campaign, special interest money. The Chronicle sat down with Common Cause Illinois, a group that supports limiting special interest money in local elections. They say politics and big money go hand-in-hand.
