College names new associate vice president of Facilities and Construction

Mahesh Mohnalkar was named the college’s new associate vice president of Facilities and Construction, according to a June 7 email statement sent to faculty and staff from Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Jerry Tarrer.

As associate vice president for Facilities and Construction, Mohnalkar is responsible for the planning and management of all physical campus facilities and serves as advisor to the president. Mohnalkar will also lead Strategic Plan efforts to streamline maintenance, upgrades, renovations and construction for campus facilities, according to the email statement.

Mohnalkar holds a Master of Science in civil engineering from Southern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute in India.

Previously, Mohnalkar served as director of Facility and Construction Management at the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority (MPEA), a corporation focused on attracting travel and business in Illinois to benefit the state’s economy. While at the MPEA, Mohnalkar developed long-term capital plans and oversaw projects for MPEA facilities such as Navy Pier and The Collection at McCormick Square.

Mohnalkar begins at the college June 11.
