2017 Bank of America Chicago Marathon

The men’s elite group runs through River North at Grand and Wabash after the first mile marker during the 2017 Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Oct. 8.

With over 40,000 participants, the 40th Annual Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Oct. 8 drew almost ten times the participants of the first Chicago Marathon on September 25, 1977, which had 4,200 runners. Galen Rupp of Portland, OR became the first American to win the marathon in 15 yrs. The course starts and ends on Columbus Dr. and runs through 29 neighborhoods.
