“This is a good story”

Chief Executive Officer Lewis A. Jordan of Chicago Housing Authority, gives a CHA resident relocation update on Thursday.  The update is entitled “The Plan for Transformation: An Update on Relocation.”  The plan gives analysis of the movement patters, whereabouts and income of the 25,000 families using public housing during the groundbreaking Plan for Transformation that started back in October of 1999.  Though CHA has taken its fair share of criticism in the past, Jordan reassured those in attendance on Thursday that “this is a good story.”  Major improvements have been made by CHA housing residents showing that those with incomes have increased from an average of $10,000 to $19,000 per year.  The Plan for Transformation began on February 6, 2000.  The plan consisted of the restoration and replacement of 25,000 units for public housing eligible residents.  CHA demolished 14,000 CHA public housing units and provided services to families to help relocate them.
