Singer/songwriter Patti Smith, came to Columbia on Nov. 30 as part of the Conversation in the Arts series,where she spoke to students about what inspired her book and her hopes for the new generation. Smith gave students a special performance and jammed with a student band on stage. The Chronicle got an exclusive interview with the Godmother of punk.
