No need for a headline
November 10, 2008
As we were wrapping up The Election Issue, the staff at the Chronicle racked their brains for a headline that would sell. We needed a headline that would say “historic” and “connected to Chicago” at the same time. We played around with a few ideas, ultimately settling on no headline at all. Why, you ask? Well, our front cover is a photo, but there’s no one story to name. It’s the whole issue. We didn’t want our brainstorming to go to waste, though, so here are some of the headlines-that-couldn’t.
