0:27: On Wednesday, April 9th, President Donald Trump announced a 90 day pause on most higher targeted tariffs.
0:35: The pause does not apply to all tariffs, and the United States is still in the midst of a global trade war.
0:42: The previous 10% base tariffs instituted on April 5th will still apply.
0:48: Trump also increased tariffs on China to 145%.
0:53: Here are 3 things to know about how tariffs will affect you as a consumer in the coming months.
1:00: A tariff is an import tax placed on goods from other countries.
1:04: The tax is paid by the buyers and is often reflected in the price consumers pay for things like groceries and cars.
1:12: Consumers can also expect to pay more for clothing.
1:16: Only about 3% of clothing sold in the United States was produced here.
1:21: China is the largest exporter of clothing to the U.S., followed by Vietnam.
1:26: You may also see tariffs reflected in the prices at your favorite coffee shop.
1:31: A small fraction of coffee in the US is grown in Hawaii, but the vast majority comes from countries close to the equator like Brazil and Colombia, who are faced with 10% base tariffs.
