This week on Three C’s: Chicago is leading the country in inflation, which has made necessities like food more expensive. Here are three places students can go on campus if they are facing food insecurity.

0:27: Chicago is currently leading the country in inflation, which has made necessities like food more expensive.
0:34: Here are 3 places students can go on campus if they’re facing food insecurity.
0:40: On Tuesday, February 25th, TRIO will host “Eating Free,” an event to teach students how to apply for Illinois SNAP benefits.
0:50: The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly known as food stamps, is available to college students who meet at least one of the state’s requirements, such as working an average of 20 hours per week or participating in a state or federal work study program.
1:07: TRIO is a federally funded program that provides support to students who are low income, first generation, or disabled.
1:15: The event takes place Tuesday in the TRIO suite on the 5th floor of 33 Ida B Wells.
1:23: The Columbia Cares Fund, in partnership with the Student Government Association, provides small emergency grants to students facing unexpected hardship.
1:33: Students can contact the Dean of Students office for more information on how to apply.
1:39: Columbia Cares also provides care packages containing one week’s worth of food.
1:44: Students are eligible regardless of financial aid status, but can only receive a package once per semester.
1:52: Students, staff, and faculty also have access to a little food library on the 2nd floor of the library building during regular hours.
2:01: The cabinet is stocked with single-serve non-perishable food items.
2:05: Members of the campus community are also encouraged to donate to the little food library when they are able.
