VIDEO: Behind the scenes as college media
Columbia students one of few college media granted access to Obama rally
Student media from Columbia—including The Chronicle and the college’s radio station, WCRX—gained media access into the Grant Park rally for then-Sen. Barack Obama on Nov. 4. Check out some behind-the-scenes footage of how the event played out in Columbia’s backyard:
Chronicle staffers wait in line to leave the media area and talk with supporters at the event. No more than 20 media members at a time were allowed to enter the crowd, and once they got in, they could remain for only 20 minutes.
Right after it was announced that Obama won the election, press swarmed the gate separating the media from the general crowd. At that point, no media at all were allowed to leave the press area, until after Obama made his speech later in the evening.
