Sadly, Dr. Carter proves once again that he values his ego more so than what's good for the college. He alludes, for instance, to the negative, complicating impact of having the 'interim' prefix in front of Dr. Love's title while she's working with the Chinese. Unless I'm mistaken and this "very active" work Columbia is engaged in there is unimportant--which would make this tuition-paying student would ask why we're there, if such is the case--then why not remove it? The answer, as I stated in my first line, is that maintaining his sense of superiority is more important to Dr. Carter than doing what's best for the school.

I honestly feel that our petulant president needs to be reminded that he is here to serve the school and the students, not the other way around. His remark hat he's most "proud of the way we have become student-focused and how we treat students" shows how out of touch with reality the man is. What exactly is he proud of? Telling a student to shut-up last semester, thereby embarrassing the school on a national level following the snowball effect of his unprofessional display? Surely he can't be proud of the fictitiously open prioritization process that excluded and slighted students at practically every turn, can he?

Dr. Carter's tenure cannot end quickly enough for this student. He's out of control and disrespectful to students, staff, and faculty alike. The only problem with his expected date of retirement is that it's too far away. Hmm... Can the Board of Trustees do anything to expedite that process, before Dr. Carter does something else to shame our school?
