Columbia’s Student Government Association travels to State Capital

The Columbia College Student Government Association (SGA) traveled to Springfield in October to lobby government officals to reinstate the Monetary Award Program for spring 2010. SGA joined hundreds of Illinois college students in support of the MAP grant. This comes after funding was cut in half in an attempt to balance the state’s budget. The Illinois House and Senate passed a bill to restore MAP grant funding for spring 2010. The Columbia Chronicle’s Multimedia Editor, Cristina Aguirre, has more on the story.
