Brent Lewis | THE CHRONICLE
A student was injured Wednesday afternoon in the A and D gallery while installing art for the Manifest celebration. Witnesses at the scene say the front display collapsed because of too much weight from the front half of the display. Ambulances and fire crews reported to the scene and the student was removed from the scene on a stretcher into the back of an ambulance.

Four people were arrested after a six-hour standoff on Dec. 5 on the 4600 block of North Broadway. Three individuals barricaded themselves in a building around 4:15 after another individual involved in a firearms investigation, was arrested six hours earlier. The individuals involved were “wanted” and Town Hall District officers and ATF agents were notified that they were in the Chicago area. The incident caused the CTA Red Line to shutdown between Belmont on Berwyn, and the Purple Line Express was shut down as well. Police recovered a .40-caliber handgun, a .450caliber handgun and a 223 rifle with a scope, along with a bullet proof vest at the scene.

Sara Mays | THE CHRONICLE
The funeral service for the former first lady of Chicago, Maggie Daley was held on Nov. 28, 2011 at Old St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Mrs. Daley died on Thanksgiving day due to metastatic breast cancer, that she has been battling for almost a decade, at the age of 68. The funeral ceremony was held next to the Francis Xavier Warde school which Mrs. Daley helped found.

Participants of Critical Mass dressed up in costumes for their Halloween bike ride on Oct. 28, 2011. Critical Mass is a bike ride that takes place in Chicago on the last Friday of every month. The ride leaves from Daley Plaza at 5:30p.m. to the sounds of blow horns, bells and yelling of “lets mass!” On Oct. 28, 2011 the Critical Mass route passed by the Chicago Federal Reserve located at 230 South La Salle Street to show their support. The bike riders were greeted with signs and chanting from the Occupy Chicago group. | Sara Mays THE CHRONICLE

Members of the Women’s Lufthansa Private Jet (gray) and Gascon (purple) teams participated in the Grey Goose Chicago Beach Polo World Cup on Saturday and Sunday at North Avenue Beach. Originally, the tournament was held every year in Miami, Florida. However, Bruce Orosz, who brought the sport to the United States, saw the beauty of North Avenue Beach and knew he had to hold the tournament in Chicago. A portion of the funds raised will go to the 100 Club of Chicago, which helps families of fallen fire and police officers.
